European bookmakers are considered by many to be the best bookmakers in the world. Bookies (also known as bookmakers or sportsbooks) are registered in offshore countries for tax purposes but all of them originate from a big country and target a continental market in particular.
Bookmakers are divided in three categories according to their origin: American Sportsbooks, European Bookmakers and Asian Bookies. All of them have some common characteristics, and in most of the cases their behavior fits the general pattern of their continent of origin. Sportsbook rankings websites usually distinguish between bookmakers according to their continent of origin.
American Sportsbooks are known for their huge number of promotions and very aggressive marketing, but their services are of weak quality. They don’t target the professional bettors and they are focused on tricking their customers. It is very unlikely to see gamblers from other continents betting at an American Sportsbook, because they can find better quality elsewhere.
European Bookmakers are usually divided into two categories: British Bookies and other European Bookmakers. British Sportsbooks have a long tradition and are very safe. They don’t have the best odds but they have good coverage on most sports and you can always trust them. The non-British European bookmakers are usually younger companies but with a very dynamic growth and high quality services. They are known for offering the best odds and have platforms in all European languages. Their payout limits are not the highest though. The European bookmakers are excellent for soccer betting and for all sports in general.
Some of the best European bookmakers are: Bet-at-home (Austria), Unibet (Sweden), Ladbrokes (UK), Paddy Power (Ireland) and Expekt (Sweden).
Asian Bookmakers are very attractive for high rollers and risk takers. They are not as safe as European Bookmakers, but they usually accept higher wagers and maximum payouts.
